Manny Pacquiao’s Opinion Haven’t Took Trivially by the Public

Congressman, boxer, pastor, Pambansang Kamao Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is facing numerous bashes in social media particularly those who form part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yahoo and other forms of social media users are aware of the statement given by the former regarding the LGBT Community.

Philippines was shocked with a bang as Pacquiao compared lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender to animals and even said that animals are way better than them. He commented those people who’s having sex and relationship with people of the same gender. He said that animals are better for they have the knowledge of who they can have sex and relationship with, which is the opposite gender, and compared to people that gets into relationship with the same sex. As a Christian and a pastor, he held strong to his faith and religious views and dropped his statement in an interview regarding LGBT. With different point of views and interpretation, people gave their dissenting opinion about Pacquiao’s statement.

People gave different reaction to the proposition. Some bashed, some gave small applause, some are passive readers and some remained neutral. One of the popular LGBT personalities who gave their side upon this commentary is Vice Ganda and Boy Abunda. Boy Abunda remained calm and intelligent regarding his answers and gave candid opinion on his late night show, Tonight With Boy Abunda. Abunda was applauded by the public by remaining professional and smart in his answer while having the brave heart to explain the base of LGBT and their crumpled emotions.

Vice Ganda, on the other hand, was both bashed and received nod from the public. He gave statements regarding the issue with fervent voice and conviction that he and his colleagues are hurt and even with the tone of being mad to Pacquiao. Some social media users bashed Vice Ganda as they searched videos to prove that he is unprofessional and even acts like an animal. Public dug the jokes of Vice Ganda on his concert humiliating respected news anchor Jessica Soho comparing the latter to a pig which frustrated many and his shows to comedy bars who acts with lasciviousness to his male guests.

Other active social media users even lectured biology in facebook and said that people should not take the statement badly for we are all animals in the first place. Some made their videos and posted it online, posted and commented novel-like to ride in to the issue. Public is divided, taking sides and forming opinion. Some nod, some raise brows and some laugh. But for me, I take no sides, I enjoy reading people’s opinion and ascertaining it in my own mind.
