Taiwan Increase Maritime Cooperation With Philippines And Japan

Taiwan’s coastguard desires to advance cooperation with the Philippines and conduct  joint search and rescue exercises despite anxious standoffs in disputed waters. The countries have decided to work toward joint exercises and have already apprehended deliberations on how to perform rescue operations. Both sides are making an effort.

In late May and early June 2015, Taiwan and the Philippine coastguard ships faced off in disputed waters south of Taiwan to save from harm their fishing vessels and try headed for assert territorial rights. The neighbors have been working to patch up a good relation.

The coastguard of Taiwan is utilizing to protect its maritime welfare and let its navy sustain a low profile, predominantly in waters where sovereignty is disputed. Although Taiwan is a claimant in both the disputed South China Sea and East China Sea, it remains an insignificant player in maritime territorial disputes; even they don’t have ambassadorial ties with other countries in the region which instead recognize China.
