Philippine Navy to Upgrade Cagayan Naval Base

Naval Task Group 11 head Captain Albert Mogol said there are campaigns to improve the Naval Base in Cagayan for addressing humanitarian and catastrophic response activities. The things being developed  is the ability to take action and to supervise whatever actions are happening in that area and to save from harm our interests in the north.

Aside from the Cagayan naval base upgrade, the Navy also announced that it will set up more “littoral observation stations” in northern Luzon to beef up its monitoring capability following information of the Philippine Coast Guard that Taiwan Coast Guard ships have been inflowing waters near Batanes.

The littoral observation stations try to find to improve the Navy’s maritime situational awareness capability to easily keep an eye on intruders and if necessary drive away interfering water craft. These annotations are manned by marine troopers.
